Marketing Blogs: My Five Fav

Forbes magazine published a list of “The Top 50 Marketing Blogs to Watch in 2009.” But who really has time to check in on 50 blogs, anyway? The list included several that were already on my own list, and introduced me to a couple more. Here are my five favorite marketing blogs. And, I do check in on them just about every day.

1. Marketing Profs. Maybe it’s my affection for academia that keeps me coming back to this site, but it’s a treasure trove of excellent insight and information on marketing as researched and posted by professors. I’m a premium subscriber and the webinars are fantastic.

2. Seth Godin. I’m an early Seth adopter, having met him at one of his thinly attended early workshops in Chicago years ago. Anybody who can turn themselves into a one-man brand the way he has is worth reading.
3. Marketing VOX. If it concerns online marketing you’ll find it addressed here. There may be a better site on the subject, but I haven’t found it yet.
4. DuctTape Marketing. It’s a clever site with a lot of great information for our favorite client type – the challenger brand. But the truth is, there’s a lot here the big dogs can use.
5. Adland. Want to see James Dean in his first TV appearance for a Pepsi commercial? This is the place. Be careful with Adland because you can blow an entire afternoon. But it is a fantastic resource.

Obviously, five blogs doesn’t begin to capture even a fraction of the information available on the web, but prioritizing and filtering is the only way I can process and make use of it. So, are there any glaring omissions? Post a note and share your favorites. Just to see if you’re paying attention I’ll send an iPod Classic to the person who tips me to the best site before August 31!
