New design for Twitter profiles promises better customer engagement

April 10, 2014 | blog | By Mike Sullivan

This week, Twitter revealed a fresh, new look for Twitter profiles designed to increase user presence and engagement. The new look, which has been the subject of some speculation since testing began back in February, changes the look of a user’s Twitter page while prioritizing media-rich tweets, photos, and popular tweets. Here’s a quick look at what’s new (in 140 characters, or less):

Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.

Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page to make it easier for your followers to see what you’re all about.

Filtered Tweets: Choose which timeline to view when checking other profiles – Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.

Tweets with High Engagement: Tweets that have numerous retweets or favorites will be larger compared to others to gain more attention.

Twitter’s updated look and features will help brands increase their overall presence and engagement by visually attracting customers and giving them a quicker, deeper insight into the brand’s persona.

New accounts will get the redesign right away, and all others should see their profile pages change in the coming weeks. If you want a peek at what’s coming, check outFirst Lady Michelle Obama @flotus, John Legend @JohnLegend, or Channing Tatum @channingtatum.
